The Amber Spyglass seems to be the longest book of the trilogy, so I'm gonna divide the threads by 10 chapters each, for the sake of expediency.
I'm also going to add a separate spoiler thread to discuss the trilogy as a whole for those who have already completed it.

Re: TAS - Chapters 1-10
Fri, February 8, 2008 - 10:47 AMI get the feeling that Lyra always smells cuz she never bathes and she never changes her clothes. Anyways, alright for gay angels. That's hot. I keep picturing some Pierre et Gilles boys.
Asriel's adamant tower is very amusingly named. i wonder if they ask at the door, friend or foe? Ok , that was lame.
Now this preemptive absolution is giving me the albino monk from the davinci koodi (code). What the hell are those mulafas or whatever? I can't wrap my head around them. I keep picturing giant happy smiling one toed sloths. -

Re: TAS - Chapters 1-10
Fri, February 8, 2008 - 11:31 AMI was VERY happy to read about the gay angels! Of course they'd be rebelling. :)
I pictured them as an older gay couple that've been together for many years and resigned to never having equal status among their peers. Balthamos perhaps with a short beard or van dyke, graying of course. The other one younger and slightly more vibrant. -

Re: TAS - Chapters 1-10
Sun, February 24, 2008 - 10:29 PMYes, the gay angels are really well written, too. I'm loving that aspect of the story.
The pre-emptive penance thing is so creepy. And so true to form. The church people are horrifying. I think I know some people like that.
Mrs. Coulter is a vile, vile woman. That Will is still drawn to her is nauseating.
Oh! And that vodka-swilling priest? I thought for sure we were going to see Will buggered for sure! He gave me the creeps right off.
