Questions and ideas for reads.
I was thinking about setting up a tribe (actually changing one of my other tribes) into Madame Pince's Reading Room. It would be a place where we can list and comment on random books that we've read. I didn't know if you guys would want to do that here or would rather keep F&B for our mass reading discussions? I kind of like having the books sectioned off here, and being able to discuss one title in mutliple posts. But wouldn't want it to get too mixed up with other titles being posted in the middle of other discussions. I'm in a book discussion tribe, but don't really care for it. It is too impersonal. Just wondering what you guys thought?
That being said some one suggested Eragon and its sequel for the next big read. I'm fine with that. I've been thinking about reading them.
I will be reading the Dark Tower books by King soon. My friends love those books. It would be cool to read them along with other people. There are 7 of them and they are all in paperback now. They are being made into graphic novels as well.
any other suggestions?

Re: future reads
Wed, February 27, 2008 - 11:27 AMI have read Eragon and have the as-yet-unread sequel, so I would be up for discussing it.
We could also give critical re-reads of the Narnia series, or Piers Anthony's "Incarnations of Immortality" series, which I love.
I'd love to dig into some new stuff, though. Have you read the Septimus Heap books? -

Re: future reads
Wed, February 27, 2008 - 2:19 PMOooh!! I'd be up for both those series! I loved Narnia as a child and haven't read them in years. And of all Piers Anthony's voluminous series, the Incarnations books are my favorites! Have you ever read his earlier, darker works like Chthon and Phthor?
There's always Christopher Stasheff's The Warlock in Spite of Himself series, but it's a LOT of books there...
Or Madelene L'Engle's Wrinkle in Time series - There're only 4 of them and they're relatively short. -

Mon, June 2, 2008 - 12:09 PMHave we abandoned the new series idea? Bueller?? -

Re: future reads
Mon, June 2, 2008 - 7:07 PMSorry. I've been busy with a new job and I'm currently reading the Narnia series again.
Anyone up for doing a Chronicles of Narnia read through? I mean, now that Prince Caspian (the movie) has come out? Though damn...I wish Caspian himself would come out! He's a fine piece of........well, this isn't the über tribe is it? ;)

Re: future reads
Mon, June 2, 2008 - 7:08 PMhee hee! Ben Barnes is a hottie. I'll go there with ya. Did you see Stardust? He was totally cute in that, too!
I'd be down for a Narnia re-read! -

Re: future reads
Tue, June 3, 2008 - 7:32 AMI second that hotness and raise you another! HA HA HA! I would be up for a Narnia re-read. I don't think I have actually read all of them. If I have it has been long enough I can't remember. -

Unsu...
Re: future reads
Tue, June 3, 2008 - 2:27 PMI can honestly say that I've never read any of the Narnia books. But I'm open to reading the series if everyone else wants to. I think my daughter just got the complete collection at a school book fair. I'll just have to borrow them from her. :-) -

Re: future reads
Tue, June 3, 2008 - 3:40 PMI'm in. I found the complete box set years ago for like $2 at Goodwill. All my books are in Baton Rouge right now, but I'll have them back in a week or so. Or I should say I will be up there with them in a week or so!
What are you guys thinking....two books a month? They are awefully short! -
-
This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.
Re: future reads
Tue, June 3, 2008 - 7:22 PMYay!
Yeah, easily two books a month would do it. Or at least one every two weeks. They're short AND quick, but potentially a lot to discuss in terms of religious imagery.
Anyone care what order? As they were written or chronologically? We'd either start with Lion, Witch, & Wardrobe or with The Magician's Nephew depending on which way we wanna read 'em. -

Re: future reads
Tue, June 3, 2008 - 7:27 PMI have strong feelings that LWW come first. but I'm a purist that way. I think Magician's Nephew holds more weight when read later.

Re: future reads
Wed, February 27, 2008 - 2:15 PMI'd vote for an Eragon read too. That's another one I've wanted to read since the movie came out (haven't seen it or TGC yet either).
And I love your idea of Madame Pince's Reading Room! That sounds like a lovely complement to this room. We're not always reading just the one book or series in here nor do we all read at the same pace, so it'd be nice to have another tribe to talk about other books we're reading or have recently read.
And speaking of not reading at the same pace, I'm going to continue the discussions of Philip Pullman's books (including Lyra's Oxford) for another month until everyone has finished them and can comment on them. So we'll have your room to talk about other books in the meantime! After all, I just picked up the brand new Pern book that I'm eager to start reading...

Re: future reads
Wed, February 27, 2008 - 2:48 PMThat sounds great! The book discussions tribe I belong to never wants to discuss fantasy/sci fi fiction. I always post when I finish a book and have only had 1 or 2 posts regarding them. I will join for sure. Can I post books that I read that fit within the same genre? That is where I get my to-be-read list is by recommendations. -

Re: future reads
Wed, February 27, 2008 - 3:08 PMYou can post any book - fiction, nonfiction, picture books, porn, classics, new releases, plays, whatever. Hopefully we can get some discussions going!
